I first baked this skillet cookie for a family gathering and everyone loved sharing it fresh and warm right from the pan.

Ingredients

  • Dry Ingredients: 1 ½ cups (190 g) all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon baking soda, ½ teaspoon salt
  • Wet Ingredients: ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled, ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar, ½ cup (110 g) packed light brown sugar, 1 large egg, 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • Add-ins: 1 ¼ cups (210 g) semisweet chocolate chips, Flaky sea salt for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

Step 1:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 10-inch (25 cm) oven-safe skillet with butter or nonstick spray.
Step 2:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour baking soda and salt.
Step 3:
In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter granulated sugar and brown sugar until smooth.
Step 4:
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the wet mixture and whisk until well combined.
Step 5:
Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a spatula until just combined do not overmix.
Step 6:
Stir in the chocolate chips reserving a handful for topping.
Step 7:
Spread the dough evenly into the prepared skillet. Sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top.
Step 8:
Bake for 20–24 minutes or until the edges are golden but the center is still soft and gooey.
Step 9:
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving warm ideally with ice cream.
