Instructions

Step 1:
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 2:
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
Step 3:
Sift in the flour and salt, then mix gently until a smooth dough forms.
Step 4:
Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Step 5:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 5 mm thickness.
Step 7:
Using angel-shaped cookie cutters, cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
Step 8:
Bake for 8 10 minutes, or until the edges are just golden. Remove from oven and let cool completely on racks.
Step 9:
Once cooled, decorate with royal icing and sprinkles, pearls, or edible glitter as desired. Allow icing to set before serving or storing.
